Definitely something - nothing exists beyond language. Title given by the spectator.
Question: Is the identification and definition of borders imperative to processes of transformation?
Initially this degree project focused on limits and borders, eventually including definitions in and through language, in relation to contemporary art practice in choreography and dance. The project has been realized through both theoretical and practical research: the creation of a solo and through studies of related theoretical knowledge. In the process I focused on moving away from a method of doing, but instead insisting on an active and specific method of approach in order to make decisions that do not become oppressive. I have been reading, conversing, dancing, attending lectures and exhibitions, and participated in seminars and workshops that dealt with processes, artistic research, performance, boundaries, borders, and definitions. This let me to question how we can produce change and new knowledge through the definitions and borders already inscribed. Only what is defined can change; we need to recognize "it" (the chair as a chair, the dance as a dance) for it to have the chance to start existing as something else, transformed. All terms and definitions breath, open up and narrow down, define and undefine, continuosly. Anarchy is not an option but activism is.
