Abstract [en]
The text describes the first two parts of Lukas Schottenius' directing method when staging the play LIVS LEVANDE by Julia Nicolaisen. The method explores how a polyphonic truth about a certain prehistory can affect an actors work on character. The method is deeply rooted in Stanislavskij and inspired by contemporary director Yana Ross and Katie Mitchell, along with exploring the notion of "real-ness" on stage, comparing it to the work of Rimini Protocoll that worked with "experts" on stage (not professional actors). The text is also framed by journalistic relationship-research about psychological violence. Through different examples from rehearsals Lukas reflects on the effects of using the method and how in particular the actor playing the main character is affected by it. An important piece for the research is an interview with the main actor reflecting on the process where he comes to the conclusion that, at the end of the day, even though he of course got a lot from working with a magnitude of improvisations, when doing the actual show he pulls material from his own life, but through the lense of these improvisations. Lukas summary is that the method is effective, but in this particular case it might have gone a bit too far considering the amount of improvised material the actors had to create.
