Abstract [en]

Though auto-ethnographic research has not been stipulated as a specific strategy within yoga research, it is not uncommon that yoga researchers refer to or rely on their experience as practitioners. However, the specificities of doing auto-ethnographic research within the field of yoga have not been sufficiently addressed. But there are several contextual parameters that add to the methodological difficulties also described in ethnography and auto-ethnography. In this conference presentation i discussed one of these, namely the genre conventions among the narratives of practice in yoga literature, and how they relate to the idea of “self”.
