Abstract [en]

This video essay explores high and lowbrow views on film, and the association with genre. Through analysis of awards statistics and box office figures and a proprietary and aptly named “popcorn scale” was created and used to determine where a film is placed based on its highbrow or lowbrowness. This is used to analyse the five films I produced as part of this master’s degree.
