Dramaturgy and the changing conditions for collaboration and creation2024In: International Dramaturgy Conference, Porto, 2024Conference paper (Other (popular science, discussion, etc.))
    Abstract [en]

Paper presented at the international dramaturgy conference (Conferência Internacional de Dramaturgia) at Teatro Nacional São João, Porto (Portugal), Friday 6/12/2024.

In the paper Behrndt outlines some of the current challenges within performance production, collaboration and dramaturgical practice. One observation is that if the conversations about dramaturgy in the last twenty years have been about articulating the nature of dramaturgical practice, increasingly the task for the dramaturg may be to help create the conditions for artistic practice to happen in the first place. The paper goes on to outline possible ways forward and also considers the role that 'cognitive dissonance' plays within contemporary dramaturgies, research and collaboration.

Behrndt was invited speaker on the panel Dramaturgy: Practices and Processes together with Professor Maaike Bleeker (Utrecht University) and Katalin Trencsényi (University of the Arts Helsinki).
